Default brake upgrade for 93 civic si non-abs

im starting to get the typical spongy brake feel and i wanna upgrade to get some better stopping power.

im pretty sure a bigger MC and brake booster = better stopping power.

looking for an oem upgrade (maybe a 1" MC) and id appreciate any info you guys would share.

also dont mine bending some lines and reflaring.

thanks guys.

yes, most likely is your master cylinder going bad.

if your front brakes are stock, i'd recommend that you stick with a 13/16" MC,

get good pads, blank rotors & fresh brake fluid.

Master Cylinder relative to the Caliper
When you go to bigger caliper than use a larger piston, you are pushing more fluid through the brake lines. Therefore, you should want a larger master cylinder to push this more fluid.

General rule is…with your stock Civic DX, with the stock front calipers, keep your 13/16” MC. Any bigger and your pedal will be too stiff.

do an integra brake upgrade, i just did mine and love it. having the rear disc and bigger rotors in the front helped stopped my car alot quicker with ease too.

Sorry, I know I'm a little late on this thread, but I have the same exact car (93 civic si) and was planning on doing just a cheap oem upgrade too. Was wondering what did you end up doing? Did you upgrade your brake booster too? Thanks!

i have a 93si and plan on doing either teg fronts or the sir eg6 fronts (same as del sol vtec) 10" fronts and the 91 si MC 15/16ths from this thread https://honda-tech.com/forums/suspension-brakes-54/15-16s-master-cylinder-3079258/ seems like it would be a good oem upgrade

hope this helps
