Default Rust hood help

I know some people dont like it but i do. I have two hoods anyway so i plan i rusting one just for the hell of it. Im going to sand it down but i need helpt what to use next. Bleach or vinegar? I also heard mixing vinegar/salt/hydrogen peroxide works. I saw this mixture too on vw forums so im guess this might be good. Anyone whos tried this rusted hood please help? Or know how. I want that brown look. Haha

I'd post a face palm picture, but I actually own a rusted hood.

You could easily find it by searching Google.. but strip the hood to bare metal and let it do its thing. If you want to speed the process, mix vinegar and salt in a big bowl and grind it into the hood.

I highly recommend that when doing this though that the hood is off the car. When I did mine the hood was on the car and it ran everywhere and stained the front bumper. (Not that I care about my primered car anyways haha).

Sweet. Its good to get info from one who has done this already. but yeah im going to take it off and leave it in the backyard. So basically sand it down and then make the mix and apply it to the hood right? with what though, a sponge? and do i just leave it on until its perfect and then wash it off? im trying to get that BROWN look haha.

^ Yeah. Regardless, over time, it is definitely going to turn brown.

Takes a little while though.

When I did the salt and vinegar (LOL), I used a Scotch Brite pad.
