dashboard vin #????
i got a quick question im swapping my dashboard cuz mine is tan color getting a black one but i dont wat am i supposed to do about the vin number imma buy dash from a junk yard so im going to have a recipt...
now should i just leave the new vin tag on there or try to swap it out ?????

if your really worried about it id call the dmv for your state and they can direct you to someone to speak with on the matter. other than that i would just drill out the old rivets and re rivet the correct vin on the new dash. you only want 1 vin on your dash and it will match the vin on your firewall. it will be stamped and is located to the left of your proportioning valve for your brakes.

Yeah, there will be people that tell you it's illegal to swap VINs, but I think you'll raise a lot more flags if a cop pulls you over and notices that the VIN doesn't match the car. When I swapped my dash, the junk yard drilled out the old VIN and kept it...said he couldn't let it go with the dash. So I just swapped my old VIN on it. Just try to make it look clean. IIRC, there is a place online where you can buy anodized black rivets.
