so i was driving around the other day in my 89 hatch with a dohc zc. it was beautiful out and i couldnt of asked for a better drive til........ i was in 5th going about 60 or so and then my exhaust got really loud. like something was wrong. so i pulled over to take a look. there was white smoke comeing outta the exhaust and under the hood. ya i also got a tiny exhaust leak but thats not a big problum to me. but eveything looked fine. so i got back in and drove home. well it would go from this really loud sound back to normal. i think its a wire somewhere. but this is the best part. i had half a tank of gas and i went threw all of it in like half an hour. HALF A TANK GOT ME LIKE 30 MILES W!T!F! anybody got any ideas?

 

leaking fuel obviously. Running WAY too rich. Are you sure your burning white smoke? its not any darker?

 

notice any smells? one time i was getting bad fuel milage , vaccum leak.
normal fluid levels? coolant oil?

well i disabled my cel cuz i needed the wire pin when i was wiring up my motor for mpfi. i do smell gas. like lots of it. and yes it is white smoke. the oil level is fin and the coolent level is fin too. i do got a vacume leak but its jsut a tiny one that i need to find. but i just dont get it. when i was driving it was fine and then it like bogged down and the exhaust sound got really loud and low. but then it would come outta it for a while. i swear its a wiring problum. maybe a bad injector resistor?

 

replace the vacuum lines that are leaking then check your fuel lines and stuff and that should take care of it if not you will no its somthin diff

 

Your fuel pressure regulator may have gone out. Does your oil smell like gas? if it does change it right away after you fix the problem.

 

ok, so i havent dont anything yet cuz i was waiting to see what all you people thougght the problum could be. so today i went out and started my car and it runs fine. WTF! i have no idea maybe its just cursed. but i could replace the vacum lines and fuel pressure regulator. maybe an oxygen sensor? i jsut wanna get this done for a cheep as possible being as im a single dad with a **** ton of child support. just had to throw that out.
