you cannot have a d16z6 tranny because it is hydro, your crx is cable, unless you converted it...

Anyway, get an SI transmission. You'll be changing your speed:rpm a little bit with that. But there isnt really anything you're going to be able to do to get higher speed but at a lower rpm.

Upgrad your valves/retainers/springs
-Bigger TB with port matched IM
-Good header (4-1)

Get a DX or HF trans. But your acceleration will go down slightly.

Why either of those two? Because of the longer 5th?

Im about to start rebuilding my 90-91 ex/si tranny pretty soon. Have to replace the throwout and input shaft bearing. I've always wanted to try and put an LX 5th gear onto an si/ex tranny.

I would just throw an HF 5th on there personally... I have though about doing that, but look at the gear specs and velocity ranges first, so you can understand how comfortable the engine will be shifting between the two... Engine work is not going to lower your rpms for certain speeds, the gears are set at a certain ratio, and those ratios do not change with engine work, only tranny work. You could get better fuel efficiency out of it if anything, but not lower rpms...
