Default Mirror/Trim Restoration

90 Crx. I know the mirrors and side window trim were black when new but have turned an ugly weathered gun metal grey color. Were these parts painted at the factory or are they just black plastic? Any way to freshen them up without paint?

no they were black not painted from factory. i would either leave them alone as is or replace them. the side window tends to shrink as time pass by and leave a lil gap.

It's super easy to repaint them yourself using Duli Color trim paint. Just did mine on my EF as they where rusted and the black was chrome.

There is a how to on here somewhere

I read on some other forum peanut butter works to turn them black again. It's something with the oils in it. I've never tried it tho

several applications of turtle wax ice synthetic wax works well. probably not the best solution, but over time it makes them look like new again.

I concur.
Believe it or not, a BIG black sharpie worked like a charm on the faded to white, window trim on my new CRX Si.
Up close it has a skight kinda purplish tint to it. But from 2 feet away it looks perfect.

try using a heat gun on the plastics. dont stay in one spot for very long or else you'll melt it. but the heat basically burns away the oxidazation.
