H22 swap, need help
I am currently in the process of purchasing a 2000 civic dx with a 1994 h22a vtech motor swap. The previous owner had the car running for a short period of time, however it was not running at optimum efficiency. A compression check came back alright, so the internals should be fine. The car is currently non-operational, the ecu was thought to be the initial problem, however a brand new ecu proved that wasnt the case. The car has a msd ignition system among many other aftermarket parts including a new distributor cap and rotor. The distributor itself has not been changed, so that may be a possible lead. Also, i read something about the main relay going bad w/the H-series so thats another possible issue. Any ideas or information you may have to help me out would be greatly appreciated.
it would be best if you actually told us what the problem is? by sauing its not operational is very vague.
any more details would be great. does it crank? is it getting fuel? have you checked to see if the timing belt is snapped? is the battery dead? their is a ton of scenarios some stupid some not. more info please

the one thing i was going to mention is that your car is obd2 and the motor is from an obd1 car. is their a proper conversion harness installed or did the kid hack his wiring and try it himself to save money?

It cranks, fuel pump primes, timing belt looks great and it does have the proper conversion harness. I removed the spark plugs the other day and the electrode was worn down, looked like overheating? The previous owner did run the stock civic ecu with the motor for a short period of time, which i assume would cause incorrect air/fuel ratios? After replacing the plugs, I primed the fuel pump 3 times, gave it some gas and it started for about 60 seconds, then it misfired a couple times and died.

It has the proper conversion harness, Im running the p13 ecu, cam timing and all of that is fine. I changed the distributor and now it actually runs without an engine light, even hit vtec. however its still misfiring like a sob, im about to do a compression test myself here in a couple days but im thinking it may be something up with that msd set up. Ive searched a lot on the msd stuff and i hear nothing but problems, plus its overkill on a stock h22 anyway. I just wonder how much $$ id have to shell out to return it to stock...
changed the cap and rotor from msd to stock, still misfiring. anyone know if i can use the msd coil and return the rest to stock? im searching and not finding much.
