Hybrid owners...which fuel pump do you use?
A few threads have popped up regarding fuel pumps and hybrids. I have a 92 vx with a b18c1. It seems to run fine. But some people say you should upgrade..some people say they felt a difference...some people think they're sohc pumps work fine with the swap.
Has anyone gone from their sohc fuel pump to a b series such as itr/gsr pump? Was there a notable difference? Is it worth buying a used pump for $75? Thanks guys.

I wouldn't buy a used pump...
I'm running a Walbro 255lph high-pressure pump in my 93 CX with B18C1.
I'm only doing this because I will have a turbo...
Other than that, I'd say if you have the money, upgrade. If it's running fine now and you like the way it feels, then keep what you have.

Got the GSR fuel pump as part of the swap back in '01.
Not sure if it helped or not...who knows, but at least I can say I have a GSR one.

It depends what car it goes in. I heard eg pumps dont need to be replaced, but I have never owned an eg, so I can't agree or disagree. I replaced my dx pump in my 2000 hatchback and the gsr one was way bigger. It was a night and day difference in power.
there is a difference in them...I lost an engine due to the fact that i left my stock cx pump in the mix. I'm now sporting a turbo eclipse fuel pump.
i got a 92 dx civic and the b18c with bolt ons should be in this weekend. dont plan on boosting for another year or so. should i jus get the walbro 255, i can get it for about the same price as a gsr one. i was wondering if the walbro may be too much and not good for the engine. thanks for the help
Well is it true that the only reason why you would need to upgrade to a bigger fuel pump is when you bump up the fuel pressure? If you bump up the pressure then a bigger output pump is needed right???
I also have a 92 VX with a 99 B18C1. I used my stock fuel pump for over a year and just recently replaced it with a 99 GSR pump. I never noticed a difference, but I feel safer with this pump. Don't get a Walbro or high flow pump for your N/A motor. Those are designed for heavily modded or force injected setups. Just replace it with a GSR, Type-R or 99-00 Si and you'll be fine.
I can get a holley in tank pump cheap through my work. I was wondering what #amount of fuel flow should one look for on a pump that would be for a high compression 11.5:1 b series motor w/ type r cams?
Walbro is overkill, your stock FPR can not return that much fuel. everyone with a walbro check you fuel pressue, I bet it way higher than stock. If all you have is a stock motor, do not install the walbro unless you upgrade the FPR as well.
