Am I being bullshitted? Read this email and tell me what you think..
http://www.inlinefour.com sent me this email after I got pissed off at them because I found out the 99 JDM ITR engine they sent me had an OBD2A ecu. I'm totally confused about the OBD2A and B versions in the ITR's.
Can someone read this for me, and tell me if it's true that the 99 JDM ITR had OBD2A ecu style ECU's?
And I don't understand how these OBD2 JDM ecu's have OBD1 programming? Why would they have made them if that was the case?
I'm not ragging on this guy, he is trying to help me! But I want to know the truth about the 99 JDM ITR engines ECU. From my knowledge, ALL 99-01 civic and integras are OBD2B.

I think you are letting your anger and frustration get the best of
you. Let me clarify a few things. I hope they make you feel better.
All JDM Integra engines use the OBD2A plugs from 96-99, but if you have a
Civic, then it is broken down as follows:
JDM Civics
96-98 OBD2A
99-01 OBD2B
JDM Integras
96-99OBD2A
00-01OBD2B
This is the same here in the States. Only Civic's are broken down from
96-98 on the OBD2A.
Next thing im going to tell you is irrelevant, but good info to know. The
cool thing about JDM ECUs, is that although they have different plugs for
OBD2, still have OBD1 programming. So don't think that it will run crappy
like U.S. OBD2 programs.
If you wanted an OBD2B model ECU plug, then you would have needed to
purchase a 00-01 ITR engine.

By using the OBD2 plugs they can save maufacturing costs, even if they don't neccasarily need OBD2 in Japan, they still only have to cast one part. So your mad
Because you don't which version of OBD2 you may have? If you have an OBD1 program, then more power to you...best way to tell is to not install the secondary o2 and see what happens on the dash.

Yes it's true...
96-99 Integra ECU's = OBD2(a)
96-98 Civic ECU's = OBD2(a)
00-01 Integra ECU's = OBD2(b)
99-00 Civic ECU's= OBD2(b)

00-01 Integra ECU's = OBD2(b)
99-00 Civic ECU's= OBD2(b)
Thanks for clarifying..
I didn't have my facts strait I guess. But another reason I thought it wasn't a 99, was because they shipped me 32mm axles.
Come to find out he shipped me them on purpose, since he knew I couldn't use 36mm.

Yah, I do think he's been a cool guy about everything..
I just want to be 100% sure that's how the ECU's break down in Japan.

Japan doesn't have to meet the strict emission laws like the US, so it is very possible that their computers are OBDI programming based.
Inline and Yum are correct. There was a pic on hybrid that went through the differences (as far as looking at the ECU's).
