I have a 97 LX Coupe. The brake pedal is really really stiff. Like when you're bleeding brakes and you're at the end of pumping kind of stiff and they barely stop the car. I have replaced everything inside the drums, frnt calipers, front lines, pads, and the power booster. Nothing has helped. The only thing I can think of is the master cylinder but I thought a bad one had the opposite effect on the pedal.

Anyone have any advice please please help. This is driving me crazy

 

Hook a vacuum gauge up to the vacuum hose at the brake booster and make sure there is vacuum at the booster.

 

No make sure the brake booster holds vacuum when the vacuum line is disconnected using a hand vacumm pump

 

I've replaced a couple of stuck check valves in the booster lines which caused this symptom. So, yes, check for vacuum.

 

check both of those ^

 

sounds like the brake booster.. undo the vacuum line on the brake booster and see if it makes a difference. if it doesnt then obviously you have pinpointed the problem
