Which tires for 16" and maybe different rims
i have a 91 crx si lowered on koni sport (yellow) with H&R sport 1.9" in the front and 1.8" in the rear. The rims i have are enkei 16x7. the current tires i have are Toyo Proxes fz4 205/40r16 and they have bad camber wear and need to be replaced. what is a good tire and size to use? how good are the rims or should i just buy new rims and tires?
What people refer to as "bad camber wear" - tires wearing more on the inside edge of the tread - often results from misalignment, and not from improper camber, but from improper toe. So you might want to consider getting your car aligned properly.
As for tires, your car uses either 205/40-16 or 195/45-16. The Proxes FZ4 is an all-season tire, good for those who must use the same tires in snow and bitter cold as in moderate to warm temperatures. Based on your location, you don't need winter performance and you can take advantage of the superior performance of winter tires year-round.
If you want a longer-lasting but still decent-performing summer tire, get the Yokohama S.drive, which comes in 195/45-16. If you want the stickiest summer tire you can get and you don't mind that it won't last all that long (maybe 10-15K miles, vs 25-40K for the S.drive), get the Falken Azenis RT-615K, which comes in 205/40-16.
