What's the highest you would go on a GS-R with stock internals and no rev limiter.
I usually take it to 8300 rpm.

Thanks

there really isnt any point in going higher...you dont make more power up there.

if you want to be aggressiv you could take it to 8400, bottom end and valves can handle 9k, but the valve springs arent stiff enough to rev that high

I too don't see the point. Why risk it if there's no power gain up there?

It is possible to get faster acceleration times by shifting while out of the engines power band. As long as you are making more torque at the wheels than the next gear you will be faster. This could be beneficial if you have a shorter FD or tranny with shorter gears also.

It depends on what you have. For example, I still make power passed 8300rpm and keeps going.

i speedshift at 8200 rpm's....so basically..i rely on the rev limiter to keep me safe...you wanna keep the rpm's high because you want vtec-to-vtec shifting...i know its bad for the tranny, but it reduces your E.T.'s and peeps give you props when an all motor gsr with very few bolt-ons smashes on turbo hatchbacks boosting at 10psi.

I think everyone here understands that shifting as high as possible is beneficial whilst attempting to remain in Vtec. The question was about increasing redline on stock internals, and again I cannot see the point. If you did increase it and nothing blew up(for awhile), you'd still slow down since the stock head runs out of breath before readline and output falls. I can see no way it's worth the risk. Change the cams and that situation changes, but the stock springs and retainers would still be a liability if you boosted redline.
