Sorry if this is posted here somewhere, due to lack of time (exams) and the urgency (parents' EM2 blown shock just before their holiday) I ask it here.
The VIN in question is 1HGEM21902L6... to be read as 1HG-EM2-1-9-0-2-L-6...
According to info I found the '2' would mean model/construction year 2002.
Can it be confirmed this would be construction year, not model year?
This concernes the question whether it has 50 or 55mm shocks.
Thanks
Please note that the term production year relates to when the car was actually manufactured. Certain model 2003 cars were produced in 2002, and some were produced in 2003. This is important to notice, as it signifies what size/type of suspension components you have. You can find the production year through the VIN number, or by checking the information on the driver's side door channel.

It means that the car was built in 2002, and is the 2002 model year. There should also be a door sticker or plate which will give you the month it was made in. I know ordering some parts you will need to know the month it was built in.
