Default Clunking noise on the driver side - need opinions

History: My car makes a cluking noise from time to time on the driver side. (not the upper control arm banging into the shock tower) I've replaced the upper and lower ball joints, wheel bearings and tie-rod ends only to find out it still clunks from time to time. Some days are good, some days I hear it.

I was under the car the other day and just happened to grab the driver side axle where it plugs into the mid shaft. It has play in it, as in, moves when I shake from side to side. The play doesn't seem normal but could be, I'm no expert.

Question: Is that normal? If not, do you think it is the axle or is it the bearing in the mid shaft that is bad? If it is the bearing, is that a replaceable item or would I need to swap the mid shaft?

Thanks for looking!
