I have a 1998 Base automatic and use 91 (92?) octane (Cali).
I get roughly 19 1/2 miles to the gallon. I feel this is very low. How much do you all get?

I have a Type SH, daily use. Local and highway combined, I put about 200 miles in about 5 days and I have to fill up the tank. I always put a 93 octane gas for my car.
I have a 00 SH and the most ive gotten out of a full tank was like 320 miles. ALOT of highway driving though.. i average about 240 both highway and streets now..

19 mpg seems kinda low. How do you drive? Maybe w/ the automatic and all city driving.

ALOOONG answer
As to mileage-how you run the engine will be the big thing here. MY typical open road mileage is around 27 and in town about 20. Track days are a whole other deal -I used over 8 gallons each day at Watkins Glen and Pocono averaging more than 100 miles of track time.
We run Sunoco 93 virtually all the time along with EXXON as these are the most commonly available at the tracks we visit. On the road it is not a problem finding 92-93 for the car. If you have to run with something less than 91 the computer will compensate-but this should only be done when there is no choice and certainly you would want to get to a station to fill with the proper grade. Honda does not have anything in the ECU to prevent the use of lower or for that matter higher Octane fuel except that it compensates accordingly to protect our motors. BTW: I spoke at length with Sunoco Race Fuels and they said it is not a problem using their GT100 (100 Octane) fuel in our street cars; it is just overkill.
