My R has 76,xxx miles on it and I paid 12k for it, that has more than twice the mileage and for a grand less. I would nneed receipts to prove the whole 20k miles on the motor and trans.
thats kilmans car!! the motor was done by corner3 garage down in lake forest california. everything was replaced by OEM parts, that includes the whole engine. i mean, THE WHOLE ENGINE. exterior of the car is about 7.5/10 or 8/10. but the motor is for sure 10/10. if u have anymore question call www.corner3garage.com ask for STEVEN or NIMO

This is Chris' R. (SocalITR) on this board and one of the original socal kiddo's.
Old engine threw a rod i believe and all work done by Steve at Corner3. (Super ****) and good tech.
Nothing fishy here guys.
If i wasn't so broke i would buy it my self.
I think I've seen that car around before. Owner drove by and waved at me in it when I was in my 98 CW. If this is the same car, the body looked pretty straight and the car looked solid but it could definitely use a full detail or respray. Seems like a fair deal if the motor and trans are in fact newer.
I don't see how it would loose resale value if it's replaced by a brand new OEM?
I've never heard of that before!!! Cease your stupidity before posting next time!
Someone must be confused with Hyundai!!!
If I was looking to buy an ITR, I would totally jump on this. Why?
Well let see...I've owned 2 ITR's...
The car has a new motor/tranny, etc...
It's bone stock...
Ready to be modded...
I know what this car is capable of...
I won't have to deal with some mickey mouse crap that was done to the car...
And it won't stay stock for long...so I get a fresh start!
So you can say what ever you want!
To each their own, but I would prefer a well maintained/documented well used car than a neglected/no record garage queen, but that's just me!

If anything, it gained value from a new engine, tranny, O2 sensors and catalytic converter and installed by an ASE certified mechanic @ Corner 3 Garage.
I know the owner of the vehicle and the owners of Corner 3 Garage personally! ****, I go to Corner 3 Garage myself and had Steve put his hands on both my ITR's before.
Someone must be confused with Hyundai which looses value as soon as it is driven it off the lot!!!
Just to give you an idea: I was quoted for about $4500 for a used 30,000 miles JDM motor (from HMO) which was freshen up with a complete tune-up with documentation by my insurance when I crashed my old car! I had requested that they add that in the appraisal value!

Thats your opinion. No reason to get pissy about it. I was stating the FACT that if an ITR doesnt have matching Vin #'s it loses its value, just like everyone else is saying. I agree its a great place to start because of the new motor and trans but all i was asking was WHY WERE THEY REPLACED?
Here are the pictures of the car

Excuse my overreaction fellas....
Let me clarify myself.
Lets say that if I was shopping for this kind of car, I would be more likely, not less likely, to consider it because of the replaced engine. It's not some LS/VTEC that I care about a VIN number matching engine. It's a car that I want to be reliable and ready for me to beat on given that it is a clean titled vehicle with documented records of the new motor and repair services.
It just seems like some of you judge this as if it was a brand new vehicle!
Contact the seller, speak to him, and relay to me/us what he says before calling it "FISHY"! I'll then give you more credit for it!
Assuming is like speaking out of your ***!

I'd like to know where you're getting this information from?
I've heard elsewhere that it doesn't affect the resale value.
But then again, I personally experienced proof that it actually raises the value of the vehicle
when I dealt with my insurance!
Point me in the right direction here!

Wow didn't know 6 of them were on barrett jackson.
As noted above, a replacement motor and transmission can be a plus rather than a minus. The reasons are obvious to anyone who has faced a "rebuild or replace" decision, which is pretty common in the mid-100,000 mile range (we rebuilt the GS-R engine at 174K).
