Default Which USDM model is the EDM model EE9 equivalent?

The German EE9 is a 88?-91 model 150hp hatch. Which American model is this?

I have read that the American model actually had 160hp. Is that true?

Thanks in advance!!

The "sportiest" American hatch was the Si (ED7?), which was 108hp (single cam, non-vtec). You are thinking of the EF9, the Japanese Civic SiR hatch, which contained the same b16 as the EE9, but with a slight upgrade in either cams/compression and/or tuned better.

You may have read about people importing the b16 from japan and swapping them into the American civic/crx.

So that basically means I can't order parts for it from the States. They have to come directly from Japan? That sucks. It sure does explain why you guys do so many b16a swaps though.

Thanks!!

edit: One more question. When people talk about EF civics, which are they referring to?

well, we recognize the japanese versions as the god to all other models. The EF9 and EF8, etc were the civic/crx SiR's, so we use them as the generic name for our vehicles. It's just a chassis code.

You may be able to order parts, depending on what they are. We have the b16 here in the form of the 94-97 Del Sol Vtec and the 99-00 civic si. Many engine parts are interchangeable. Sensors and the distrubutor are the big problems.

I recall that they sold a B16 powered CRX in the UK, not sure of the chasis code, model was VTi-something. If UK Honda dealers stock parts for cars that old, it will definitely be closer for you.

Regarding your edit: EF is the JDM chasis code for the Civic/CRX. People in the US abuse it somewhat, because our chasis code is technically ED. And Europe was EE, like yours.

Thanks for the help guys!! I was basically wondering if I could order replacement parts such as OEM bumpers, hoods, etc.

Oh well, I guess I'll just have to keep looking over here. Prices are waaaaaaay crazy though.
