eg looking for a little 101
i have a eg ex looking to daily the car and possibal auto cross down the road. im looking at what things i should be looking in to. ie coil overs, strutbars and sway bars.
What model Eg do you have?
First off what condition is your suspension in. I'm talking about upper and lower ball joints, inner and outer tie rods. Make sure you check the Rear trailing arm bushings (RTA). These will break down and cause the rear end to be very sloppy.
Your biggest suspension gains will come from new shocks and springs. Do research on what shocks people like to use and spring rates. Personally Kyb or Tokico are good shock company's. Eibock, Ground Control, make good daily/weekend warrior springs.
Next new suspension bushings. Your car has old worn out crack bushings. Replacing those will get your car to respond to input and keep the suspension geometry in while you corner. And it is something you will notice immediately.
After that you can upgrade sway bars. I would upgrade the rear sway bar and get a front strut tower bar (no adjustable tower bars their garbage). Doing that will help you turn in.
After that I would look to brakes. Stock calipers are fine, just upgrade pads to hawk , carbotech, cobalt, or axis pads are all good pads. I have used axis, hawk, and carbotech. I personally like the carbotech the best. Goo initial bite and they don't fad easily. Autozone blank rotors are fine. Then swap out your brake fluid use dot 4 fluid like super blue. I've boiled dot 3 it will scare the **** out of you.
Good luck hope this info helped you out.
