trouble getting air filter into intake arm (oem)
Hey guys,
This might sound really dumb (not that mechanically inclined =p). Anyways, was trying to bring my newly purchased ITR back to stock so I removed the CAI and picked up a used OEM intake arm and box from a 97 ITR. Put the proper end on the manifold (tightened up the hose clamps) then when I try to put in the new filter in in the other end it just will not go in. I have tried wiggling it every which way possible.
Is there something I am missing here or forgetting to do? I know there is this sort of metal spring ringy around the end of the intake arm, am I supposed to remove this and then insert the intake? Then put the ring back on?
Would appreciate any help!
Thanks.

Mine is hard to replace when cold. I have everything warm and more pliable, either already warm engine, or try a heat gun. Also a film of oil on the lip helps. I am assuming that you are trying to get the filter in the standard rubber type tube.
