how can I smooth the place where I applied the touch up paint
Hi,
I had a small scratch just above door handle. It was just a small sctracth and I applied a touch up paint. But now it looks like a patch which is clear to view. Does anybody know if there is anything I can apply to smoooth it as I believe if I take this to Honda or any other shop they will charge me to paint full door and I do not want to spend anything extra. Mine is 2009 Honda Civic black sports.
Please let me know.
Thanks

they can apply clear over it and then sand it and buff it, but don't be surprised when they tell you how much it is cuz it actually takes some effort..but will be cheaper than doing the whole door..don't take it to a dealership cuz they'll wanna paint the whole door, take it to a smaller body shop they'll be able to do it..
Best way to do it is tape off the area, then use a very fine grit sandpaper and smooth it out. Then put a few layers of clear over it. Let it dry, then again using fine grit (Start out with 1000, then move to 2000+) and wetsand it down. Remove the tape and then lightly sand past the edges you made with the tape to smooth it all out. Then grab a polish (recommend Meguiars M105) and polish it until the shine comes back. I recommend M105 since it can be done by hand
