What are some mods to ITRs that make you :(
I'm passively shopping for an ITR and 1 mod that makes me automatically file it in the "DO NOT WANT" bin is a wire tuck. As soon as I see that it's a no go for me.
The other is a JDM front on a USDM car but that's a totally different topic.

Poke, stretch, flush and tuck are terms that should never be associated with an R. Ever.
also removing the rear wing for "looks".

I agree

But at least i bought a second hatch to shave. The original hatch is still OG.
Damn it is that sacrilege huh?

This isn't a deal breaker as far as buying one but I dont think R's ever look good on non-OEM wheels.
I always think "Would look so much better with the stock wheels"

damn really? youre a hardcore purist! i can respect that but damn. Not even aftermarket wheels? do you even have a nice set of coilovers or do you like the stock sussy?
I'm ok with a suspension upgrade. I'm ok with boltons. Things that can be easily reversed.
Any mods that are cheaply done or decrease the intent of the car. Ie taking off the itr strut bar and putting on a generic bar, removing the header and putting on a dc header.
If you're going to mod it, at least make them quality parts. Carbing 3pt, or smsp header, not cheap alternatives for the sake of changing something...
Hate it when they turn an itr to something it was never intended to be like an "audio car" and fill it with tv's, or a show car and never drive it.
Putting a K in it is just taking a great car and improving it IMO. My biggest complaint is lack of power and no 6th gear. That fixes those quickly while doing it with honda parts.

I am suprised that Carbing 3 pt is mentioned in that same catagory. IMO it is a piece that should not be used. If you get into a minor frontal collision the 3pt bar will lead to much more damage than what it would have been had it not been there.
I'm sure there will at least be an autopower in my 98 next year, but that can be reversed.
You can barely fit a 225 out back without rolling.
Given that rolling won't affect the outside appearance, I don't know what the big deal is. In general, show-car level street ITRs make ME cringe, because the car was f*cking DESIGNED to be driven and raced, not to sit and look pretty.
Keep in mind also (everyone) the original question: "What mods to an ITR make you cringe?" Street car was never specified. Though legitimately I don't see SIRIUS buying an ITR to build a track car.

Yeah, there isn't much room out back for anything in the 225 range of tires or sometimes even for a 7" wheel in the +40ish offset.
And when you lower an R, even mildly, you really need to take the camber out of the rear if you want the car to rotate properly. With that said, even 16x7" wheels with 215/45/16 tires will rub.

It's the ones that have fresh paint, are locked in a garage for 99% of their current life, and will never be driven in anger that make me sad.
