Default ZC motor....just throw it in...or rebuild it???

As topic reads.....many of you might know I just did a a6 headswap..and mpfi convertion....runs okay besides the fact my d15b2 block is just really trying to quit on me and I burn alot more oil then I used to.

I have to go to school soon actually I leave tomorrow(car is getting put on a flatbed lucky me)

and I have to drive about 15-20 min from my apartment....now I used to street race but ive really kinda quit on that....Im getting into auto-xing....and just enjoying my car....I know im going to buy a ZC for money's sake.....and becuase Ive already got everything for it....just need to do the swap...

but for 500 bucks.....is it worth it to YOU..to put new rings/bearings/seals/headgasket/timing belt/water pump...in..???? How much is all that? Just give me an estimate...

Or for 500 bucks should I just throw it in?? Ive never really heard of ZC's being wonderful from japan..most are actually pretty old and tired.....

I will be retaining my I/H/E and such......I will say when i do the swap...Ill throw in a ACT clutch...my friend has one in his civic....and although I just got a new oem clutch like 2 months ago..I know it wont last through auto-xing.....

BTW Im also thinking about a d16z6 or y8......but I kinda want DOHC...and I havent really seen any d16z6's around or anything Ive only called the junk yard about b18s and those run for about 700...in perfect shape for everything...If I could pick up a d16z6 for 300-500...Id def. take that....

REBUILD IT!!!!
u will thank me later......
i rebuilded my Z6 before swaping.... was good bc my #2 had 125 psi....... u never know when u going to loose power...... anyways its better to have an engine running better than just slap it in and then braking apart.... an engine rebuild can run from 300-600 dependign what u cange, and who does it...

I'd go for the rebuild, if you do the work yourself you should have some money left over
I have a zc. its reassuring knowing the t-belt waterpump etc was replaced

You know, I wouldn't even bother with the ZC. I would just look for a good sohc VTEC, be it D16Z6 or D16Y8. I loved my D16Y8; it was quick! I surprised many, many people with how fast it ran! With just I/E I was running consistent 15.3's, with one 15.2. I also lucked out, because it came with an AEM cam gear (never touched it), and about 210-215 psi per cylinder, across the board. I may actually be selling this engine if I get my car back for scrap.. But seriously, I see a few ZC's that run pretty darn hard, but then I see dogs that run 15.7-15.9's with bolt ons, which IMO is slow...
If you get a Sohc VTEC make sure it comes with a full warranty, and they tell you how much compression it has. Also wire it up correctly with OBD-I, it DOES make a big difference, especially in VTEC.
There was a guy at my local track with a D16Y8 wired off of the stock computer, and he was pulling 16.1's!!
