I'm in the middle of going to look at this -R- in person . And I was just wondering what some of the other Type-R- owners would pay for this shell ? I would be getting it with out the following on the shell. Or with the shell but replaced with oem stock parts ! Except the interior as I have a full set of seats and door panels anyway .

I wouldn't be getting the spoon carbon mirrors,function 7 rear lca's, or the front and rear seats , as well as the door panels . But I would be getting the rear spoon strut tower bar ,and comptech rear tie bar .

The 98' shell body appears to be straight minus the front bummper being primer and the 6'years of dust !!!!!!!!!! ALONG with now the new dent in the driver door !!!

He has listed the shell for 7,500 with all of what I stated above but I wouldn't be takin those parts. So the price would drop but he also had listed the car at that price before he dented the door !?!

I was seriously gonna jump on this shell.But the price was too funny .For a few grand more you can get a complete high miler r .The fact that it has a clean title doesn't change the fact that he doesn't have a numbers matching swap. $5500 sounds fair to me.Either way it's his car."TO EACH IT'S OWN".

Keep looking, like others have said for a bit more you can have a high mileage complete R

 

That is alot for a shell. is the 5 lug even on there? I paid 1500 for mine, but it was as bare as it gets.

 

Paid $5700 for mine as basically a shell. had full interior though and had rota slipstreams on it. had 110K on it and a clean title.

I don't think it's worth the 7,500 either. But he's willing to work with me . And I do have the rest of what would be needed to finish it by the time it got home and got a good bath ! It could be rollin again over night !!!. If I rushed to put it together that day .

5,500 ? The way it sits now with the extras ? Or with out ? OR how I said I would be taking it ? .And yes I know I can get a clean title high mileage R for a few grand more . But I own two other R's and want this one to be one I do things too instead of it just sitting in a hidding spot getting started once a week and only gettin drivin when the rain stops .And where I live hommie that's almost never !!

Yes 5 lug is there and so is the rest just no swap. How bare ? And what year ? was it a clean title ? I sold one bare a$$ 98 c/w shell for that same price too but she was pounded in the rear and no nothing .

Was the five lug on yours still when u picked that one up ? and how far did u travel to get yours ? was it a clean title as well ? and the year ? I only want a 98' c/w or a 01' canadian c/w or 97' c/w ......thats all I'm loking for .OH yea it also has to be a clean title .

 

mine is a 98 CW. 5 lug was still on it, and i traveled about 4 miles to pick it up because i bought it off of a friend. yes, it is clean title as well.

If there were 15,000 made, it would be worth $$

If there were 1,500 made, it would be worth $$$

If there were 1,500 made and it had both a clean title and was only m9issing the drive train, it would be worth $$$$

The real question should be...How many clean title 1998 Type Rs are left?

Yeah, you could wait for a better deal, but would you be the first to discover that better deal or would you just hear about someone else's good luck?

id pay 5,500... maybe less after i saw her in person what the owner of the car should do is give it a good clean up he just watered it down and put some tire shiner on it... what he needs to do is set a day aside put everything that he has thats not on the car and put it on then give it a good wash buff it and try to sell it

IMO I think that a clean title R with non matching motor is just as bad as theft recovery with a non matching motor. What makes one better then the other?

 

it definetely hurts the resale value of the car, but i do not agree it makes it just as bad as a theft recovery. Things happen to engines when cars get driven. You can't fix a rod out of the front of a block like you can fix a door ding. In my case my R is clean title, however at some point in it's life with the previous owner dropped a valve at 9,000rpm which pretty much obliterated the head. He sold the bottom end and it's now part of a 520whp civic and is a 2.0l.

I myself have come across some very good deals on some TYPE -R shells in the past that I picked up ! So in that aspect I understand and get. I just figured I'd see what some of the other peoples opinion's are .And see how they felt about this certain shell ? And what they thought she was worth to them .As a buyer .

Yes good point about the detail and cleanin of the car but then he might ask more . He also did clean up the car alot better and send some clean and close up pic's of some things I asked him for . He also didn't have a extra battrie with him that day he just hosed it off cause I asked him to ! Then he posted these on there afterwards.
ALL stock and vin matching ones that havent been ever touched is the only way it makes one worth more to resell it down the road . But I wont be selling this one . AND as far as it being just as bad. That is your IMO . NOT mine. As to the car was never broke into nothing was striped or ruined or ever stolen from it !!!!! Motor was just ran hard and blew so it needs a new heart . Not a bunch of bull$hit to be either replaced or fixed ! but thats my IMO .

HIGHLY.. AND Same as the original motor from this shell I was asking about .The owner before this guy drove it hard and blew it up ! I do now have a complete vin matching motor. to a different R. but not vin matching to this chassie. But at least shes gonna have her B18C5 HEART again ! So what if it's not the motor it came with from factory . At least it didnt get stole for some hatchiee !!!!!

Thank you, it really isn't that clean though. It just doesn't show in photos. It needs both doors replaced, a new front bumper from being cut out for a FMIC, the fenders have those awkward inside out dimples from rocks and not having inner fenders for a while. Other than that, not bad.

 

Yea I get u with the pictures don't show it's imperfections. My d/d GSR has those fugly inside out dimples as well from not having the innerfender in there . At least it's a clean title !!!!! and it's yours , and shes C/W ! So eitherway u steal got a smokin deal .

Yes my mind was set on a price in my head ! Don't mean it matched the owners price and or what he wanted for the R. Thats why I just wanted more peoples input on what they thought .And yea there was some round about ideas but only a few and there is thousands of users on this site .SO I went to look at her yesterday to make a offer and ALEX and I made a deal. I will be the new owner of .JH4DC2314WS002984 . When it arrives from transport next week . Stoked to finally own a clean title C/W ....

Just cerious if it's just me being a complete ***. OR would any body else be pretty fukin pissed it's coming with the window on passenger side half way down ? Over two nights in cali on the back of the transport truck. I mean he did at least tape it good and with the right kind of painters tape. But I live in one of the rainiest states.I mean It's gonna probally gonna get rained on the way home ! THEreason for the window being down he said was because.He took the door pannals off the car after I flew back home that night along with some other things I didn't want with the car to lower the price of it.So That he agreed to take off those parts off the - R- .He said he didn't have any window switches with him at the shop to put the window back up ! !I flew out on the 18th to look and make sure I wanted it for sure and it was as clean as I thought . Alex was a hella chill guy that I got the car from so I don't think he did it on purpose but still kinda worried even with full coverage on the car from the transport service . But anything can happen it's a TYPE-R..... And thiefs are nutz. Thanks for any input .

I know right ? I was hella sketched out with it commin with the window being the way it was ! Oh well over and done with now .

But at least she did show up safe and sound. With all the parts that were suppose to be in there . Except the oem itr amber clock, oem itr shift ****,oem set of mirrors,my other key for the locks and ignition.the plastic cover for gauge cluster ,all abs lines and rear hatch cargo cover.He said he will be shiped some time by the end of July !! or mid July !

When she got off the transport . I started on guttin her out .When she got here she was hella filthy with dust and years of not being washed I'm sure you guys can all relate after seeing her in the pics on the for sale thred and years of dust from the previous owner .After I got my shell home .I went to work on it ! time to restore it back to life !
