Default leaking vtec solonoid/no vtec

I have a 1st gen b16 in which i have several problems with. 1st and foremost, i think the headgasket is blown. it drinks coolant and gets really hot.

2nd, i have a vtec sytem malfunction check engine light, and cant figure it out. all the wiring is fine.

3rd, my vtec solonoid just started leaking yesterday from where it bolts to the head. it is leaking a creamy brown oil out, rather than the usual oil color and consistancy, further confirming problem # 1.

My question is this, i want to make 100% sure my headgasket is blown before I take the head off and replace the gasket, 2nd, what is wrong with vtec, is it because of problem 3? and 3rd, why would it start leaking all of a sudden? tnaks for any help.

just replace the head gasket.. it will be a very wise idea........ and replace the gasket on the VTEC solenoid.. if u take it out, u will see the Gasket(Seal) and that should take care of the leaking....... check for other coolant leaks around the engine...... white smoke should blow if its being burned.......

i see coolant leaking from teh back of the engine, but all i see is a drip and cant tell were its coming from. I am prett sure it is the head gasket, but it doesent blow any smoke at all. Thats what is puzzling.? oh well, i will probably just replace the headgasket.
