Default knock sensor question

does a knock sensor from a 99 SI fit and work the same for a 98 EX? I know the part numbers are different, but I have heard a few people tell me they work. Just need to know before I buy one for 50 bucks, while my brother has one from his 99 SI motor. For what it's worth, the SI motor was hydrolocked from the previous owner.
