Hello all,

I have a check engine light in my accord. It's a 95 EX 5 speed, with a recent transmission swap. I jumped the two pin connector under the glove box, and watched the CEL flash. It showed one long flash (about 2 seconds) followed by 7 short flashes. What is this a code for.

I believe this is the VSS. Was the "swap" to the same type..ie a manual for a manual.

 

Swap was auto-to-manual. I was thinking VSS too because my speedo crapped out on me the other day. What do I do for the VSS? Is it a small part I can replace myself and pick up from honda?

 

If you're sure it's the vss then you can try the dealer if you wish or you can get one from the aftermarket. Dorman Products offers one # 911-751. You can go to thier website and look it up and get a picture of it.

 

I still have the VSS that was from my auto tranny. Does the manual transmission require a different VSS? If not, I could use the one from the Auto tranny, which I know does work.

 

According to a couple of sites (Dorman Products, Worldpac) I looked at it does not matter.

 

I installed the VSS from the auto tranny, and it worked fine. No CEL and and my speedo works! Thank you for the info!
