Default b16 turbo build.. HELP

Hi,

I am in the process of building a b16.

The bottom end will have Scat Rods $299 +ship
And Arias Pistons Forger std. lower comp. $400+ship

The head is a fully built Race p&p by JGEngine dynamics, turbo JGE custom cams, springs, retainers, valves etc.
It's a gs-R head.

Sending the 8lbs fidanza flywheel, the n1 ctr crank pulley and bottom end to machine shop for ballancing and to knife edge the crank.

Im looking for 400+whp ( would like 450whp )

Right now @ 318whp and 218 wtq b161st gen with ls tranny with an lsd = 13.2 @ 110mph.
on 22x8x15 mt slicks. Just barely hitting 4th at end of 1/4 mile and a 2.0 60' foot.

Im taking the quaife out of the ls tranny and putting it into a si-R tranny.

Im looking for 11's ( 11.5 or lower would be nice )

Car is a 1994 Honda Civic Coupe Si. No a/c no p/s.

Should I go with some 24x8x13" slicks?

Car has full Koni adj. suspension, and a Custom Traction bar.

My tuner said to have the machine shop custom fab a block guard on and the motor should be good for 500whp.

I want a rliable set-up for mid 11's.

I think by adding 100whp = 420ishwhp with a better tranny and a new tire set-up I think I should be able to shave off 1.5 seconds easily.....

Basically Im just asking if a B16 will run good with the above mods at 400-450whp?

And if any1 has any suggestions or a proper tire set-up?

alright we ran a b16 in a 00 si made 338 wheel horspower with a little t3 and where running 11.80s so it can be done easily and we used a 23in slick the 24.5 where to much tire and actually cut at time down almost a half sec. just with those at the end of the track I was bouncing rev limiter in 4th at 119 so theres your slick size and see what happens. and for sure get rid of the ls trans its to much gear. I'll be honest swap the trans and put 23s on and go to the track are car had full interior. if you somewhat gutted you should hit a 11 with your setup now.

Hi thanks for the useful info.

23's? is that 23x8x13?

And I know if I swap out the trans and get a proper tire set-up I should be able to crack high 11's.

The guy who is building my motor quoted me a price for sir trans and install and swap the diffs, then when he knew I wanted to build the motor we did a trade. So now if it's all one time drop my motor and tranny and drop the sir trans with the new motor I ain't paying.

Also what Hp should I be aiming for? My t3/t4 to4e . 63 / .50 is getting swapped out for a
.63 / .70.

I want to be reliable and with a proper tune my tuner said 500whp with a block guard, but I want to be reliable and stay on pump gas. So Im not sure if Im going to go with the block guard or just stat at like 420ish whp with just the rods/pistons and proper tune.

Also another thing... in my area all the Sunocos are closing down...
Im running 94 octane right now...
There are SOO Many Shell Gas stations arround
You think 420whp would be possible on 91 octane?

And if so what would be the highest hp rating more or less for 91 octane?

It's just a pain... that all the sunocos are closing for 2 mths and crap.....

You might want to be asking this question in the drag racing forum. There's a lot more technical information in there about slick sizes and what not.

Not really. Just the fact that for over 10 years I've had nothing but problems with Javier's "builds" or other components to a point where I wouldn't use them if given to me. But that's neither here nor there, so that's why I didn't get into an "explaination"
