AEM EMS Tipin?
Hey guys, hopefully someone can explain to me how to work with tipin in the ems
when rapidly opening the throttle the car leans out for a sec, hesitates and then finally goes which is not only annoying while driving but especially down shifting when your rev matching gears.
I would assume thats tipin or accel throttle pump as aem calls it.
there are 4 windows and I dont know what any of them mean.
can anyone explain this to me? thank you

try as much as u want, it was never implemented properly in the series 1, u will never get the amount of accel fuel needed to prevent the lean spike.
but here is a quick run down...if it actually worked....
dtps is the rate of change, the faster u pump the pedal and the larger the pump, the larger the dtps.
one table sets the amount of fuel vs that dtps value.
the rest are simply multipliers based off that fuel amount.
look at them over a few times and it will make sense.

In the accel fuel template, you should see a box in the lower right corner.
The top item is "Accel dTPS Trigger"
AEM's default value for this is 10 - and I've NEVER had a car be happy with that.
Drop that down to two or three and you'll notice a huge difference.
This throws a lot of people off because you might notice that value is NOT a percentage. The accel dTPS scale goes from 0 to 128. The trigger is the threshold you have to cross to invoke accel fuel. You'll cross two or three "ticks" a lot quicker than 10.

Make sure that the base fuel table is correct and the values are "smooth".
I see alot of guys come in to the shop that end up using all sorts of corrections to compensate for something as simple as a hole in the main fuel table.
On a side note, Scott is right, very few cars end up using the default AE settings.
