When I press the horn, the *door ajar* light lights up. Any ideas?
For several weeks, I've been driving around with the seat belt and door ajar lights flashing at me on the dash and beeping. I narrowed it down to some sort of bad ground in the steering wheel/horn, but after taking the steering wheel apart and messing with it, I still can't seem to get the problem fixed. When I press the horn butto, the the "door ajar" light lights up and I end up blowing the fuse to the horn.
I suppose I could just disconnect the horn, although I think it's really necessary driving such a small car (in this land of SUVs).
If anyone has any pics of the steering wheel apart and the steering wheel hub that I could take a look at (to make sure I have everything put together correctly) I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

OK I had the same problem a week ago. does it do it when you hit the brake????? Check all yout bulbs, tail, blinker, parking. thats what it was on my 89 crx.
Yeah, actually it goes away after I tap the brake once more after I stop. Weird, huh? I've checked every friggin' bulb, switch and wire harness in the entire car. I even took off the bumper and checked both horns in the front--they looked fine.

my friend had a 3rd gen civ si ,iswear to god that thing was possesed hit the brake clock would dim and the dome lite would come on,left turn signal clock would blink and oil light would come on,and a whole bunch of other combination.he totalled it b4 he could figure it out.sorry just never heard of any one else having that problem.
the door ajar and seatbelt lights work on a negative trigger system....when they see ground they come on, your horn works the same way as does the brake lights, so what is happening is somewhere the shielding has melted off and these wires are touching, or something to same effect, and the negative trigger for one is triggering the others...it is also posible for it to be bleeding in from somewhere, relays are often culprits as they go bad they stay in a cetain position and that could lead to bleeding as well....HTH
when you press the door bell on your house, does you toilet flush too.
Have you check the light for the license plate. i have a body kit and can't use it, so it was stuffed between somthing. It got crushed and created a short causing a fuse to blow everytime the headlights turned on.

Electricle Gremlins SUCK
I bet when you drive it looks like Christmas...hehe

Damn seems like this happend to everyone including me,seatbelt light would flash all the time then when I hit the brake's seat belt light would come on. I tore that damn bell out of the rear veiw so that i would only have to deal with the lights in the dash and not the damn dinging, make a long story short I fixed the horn fuse and one day i realized that everything fixed it's self.
I'm having similar problems. It started whenever I pressed my brakes - lights came on in my dash and the door ajar light + ding came on. Turns out this is a "feature" to let you know when your brake light fuse is out.
So, I replaced the fuse, and I found out that pressing the horn for more than a few seconds will cause it to blow the fuse, killing the brake lights.
Quite annoying ...

WOW!! I'm surprised so many of you have had this problem. I just went out and checked all the fuses under the hood and they all looked OK. The horn fuse is missing because, like I said, it will blow if I put another in (I've blown several already), but there's one fuse I can't seem to get to--it says "main fuse" and I can't figure out where it is. It couldn't be that one though, could it?
Also, does anyone know what this means?
Maharashii--how did you find this out
