Default 2nd gear issue on a 2000 Si

My issue is whenever i shift from 1st to 2nd gear or downshift from 3rd to 2nd gear, it doesn't grind until i start to let up on the pedal to enage 2nd gear. I don't hear a grinding sound as i shift from 1st into 2nd or 3rd into 2nd.....it's only after i've shifted into 2nd gear and as i'm going to release the pedal that it sometimes grinds instead of engaging. Could anyone give me some advice on how to fix or what replacement parts i need to purchase?

Sounds like the teeth on the slider are probably pretty worn. It sounds like they are not engaging the dogs on second gear completely. Without actually having it in front of me, you are probably looking at a minimum of a 1-2 slider set. That is my thoughts.

Thanks for the help guys.....i think i'm just gonna get rid of the car instead of trying to fix it.
