Last October I wrecked my '90 Civic. Its lowered and I rammed into a couple of curbs. My struts had to be replaced, my sub frame was bent and had to be replaced, my bolts had to be replaced and a few other things. For labor and parts it cost almost as much as what I bought the car for... Got the car back, thought it needed to be aligned took it in to align it and they couldnt because something on it was still bent. Took it to Todd's Auto Body shop (EXCELLENT body shop) and found out that the Unibody on the front is completely shoved back and the cross member(not sure of the exact terminology) in the front needs to be replaced. It pulls REALLY HARD to the right and you have to keep the wheel turned to make it go straight. Driving downtown is a B****! You hit a pot hole and your flying to the side. Estimated repairs are $350 for 7 hours of labor PLUS what ever the crossmember part would cost.

Here's my question:
With the front end of my car damaged as such, IS MY CAR SELLABLE WHILE DAMAGED?? Would I be able to get money out of a sale with people knowing the front is damaged like that???

Dependent on how much you want for it, being a 90 Civic even in perfect shape around here(TMV for an SI with all the bells) would really only fetch about 900-1200 depending on the buyer. Prices in your area may be higher or lower.

Normally if you're selling a car that is damaged/needs work to someone who knows about it beforehand you discount the price by what it would cost to fix.

 

your best bet is to part it out in my opinion. those cars arent worth much. especially with a bent frame. your car is basically near total'd condition. you'd profit a few hundred bucks if lucky. more then likely not, unless u get lucky and find an idiot

 

I was hoping for around $600-$900... but I was worried that even though the car is repairable it is still damaged and I wouldnt get it to sell.

 

You'd definitely have trouble selling it for anything more than scrap prices. Like was said previously you'd have the most luck parting it out. Even then it might be a break even if you get lucky.

Honestly good luck no matter which route you choose.

 

Damn... I figured thats where it was headed. Scraping it out wont give me enough money to buy a new car with lol oh well. I'll try and figure it out. Thanks for the opinion guys
