Default MR-5's...are they two piece?

Edit: Sold these to a member on ephatch for about 700

I just got these and was wondering if this is a two piece wheel...or are the screws/bolts just for looks? I was thinking of taking it apart. Looks like the spokes aren't going to work out...as far as fixing them up with just some regular buffing.

Here's pics

Didn't even know they came with these...found them in the bag...lucky dog

Here's the first wheel I started with

Before

After polishing up the lip a bit (just a quick job, nothing hardcore yet )

you my friend just found gold in a dumpster pretty much lol, look on the inside of the wheels if you can see the nuts on the other side then yes they are 2 piece, but from looking at them i can pretty much say they are.

Well, I checked the back, I can't see the screws...but it does appear two piece now that I look at it. Looks like the bolts go through that spoke set and into the bigger part of the rim...definitely looked like a separate piece bolted on there. I'll try removing it later. I'll need to...cleaning these damn things with 29 bolts is a pain, lol.

When you put it back together, remember to put something on the thread so it doesn't leak.

definitely, I was looking at that on another thread. I saw one guy have to use urethane sealant around the piece he took out (it was a BBS wheels though, same kind of two piece style though)

you dont need anything on the bolts when you put them in they wont leak the face does NOT have anything to do with the barrell.. just make sure when you put the faces back in you dont over tighten and break the hardware off... these wheels in good condition WITH ALL the centercaps locks and key.. could probably fetch around $800 so yeah you got you a great deal.. take care of them

thanks da9licious! I think I will keep them. I love Mugen and Work wheels. Even if they aren't for the car I get in the states, I just can't seem to part with wheels like these...guess I'm a freak (probably getting a FA5 when I return...and might convince the wife to get a Fit).

as da9 said theses wheels are 2 piece.

the wheel assembly bolts are tapped into threaded holes in the barrels themselves. the bolts are short 7mm wide and the top head is an 8mm 12 point.

I agree. I'm thinking of getting some FD2 body parts for a conversion. It's just tough to find bumper supports, etc. Have you done a conversion on your FA5?

Thanks. Yeah, I ended up taking the spoke piece off. I'm hoping to find some replacement bolts locally...we'll see.
