It's the same engine. One is from Japan and one is from America and the wire harnesses are different, that's about the only difference. Use your original wiring harness and you should be good.

What are we talking here

SOHC F22b VTEC
SOHC F22b Non VTEC
DOHC F22b Non VTEC

One thing you will need to work out for sure is the location of the CKP & TDC sensors. The JDM F22b is similar to the OBD1 (89-94) USDM F22B*. It has the CKP & TDC sensors in the distributor, whereas the OBD2 (96+) USDM F22B* have them mounted on the front of the oil pump housing behind the crank.

This would be an easy swap if the OBD2 distributor fit on the JDM head. but I'm, pretty sure that it doesn't. I think I remember reading somewhere that people used a USDM H23 distributor for the DOHC F22b and that worked. Not so sure that will work on the SOHC F22b.

If you have the SOHC F22b VTEC there are a other things you will need to work out as well as the TDC & CKP. You will need to run wires for the VTEC solenoid and pressure sensor to a VTEC ECU. With an F22B2 Accord you do not have the wiring or the ECU (computer) to run VTEC.
