I'm new to this forum and to honda's in general. most of my experience so far has been in VW's.
anyway, I'm interested in buying a CRX sometime soon. i've loved that car since i saw my sixth grade teacher driving it. unfortunately she wasn't too hot but at least the car was so i had something to day dream about in class. back to the important stuff. I actually know very little about the car. All i know is that there is one model with the door handles vertical and another one with horizontal door handles. i like the one with the normal (horizontal) door handles. i'd like to know as much information about it as possible.

-engine specs of all models
-exterior pics (STOCK) or links to them
-interior pics (STOCK) or links to them
-anthing else you may think is useful for someone who knows nothing about hondas.
-also, if there is anything i should watch out for when buying one.

resource.crx.org will answer all questions about specs that you might have...and also as a warning because you are new...use the SEARCH button whenever possible...that will keep the mods off your back.

Welcome to the board - this is a well diverse board, but mostly geared towards honda performance. Pun intended.

I'm planning on buying a CRX like you, and stripping it, then putting in a JDM B16A engine w/ mods. This will be my track car and under $8,000, faster than a lot on the street.

I love learning about performance automobiles, but then love the fact a low displacement, low emissions, and high technology can be high performance.

I have learned TONS on this board...

the one thing that confuses me the most is all the engine codes. B16A, B16B, LS, ZC, etc,.....i have no idea what these are. i've tried searching but haven't found anything that would give ignorant honda folk like myself the basic information about each of these engines. Help!

oh yeah and JDM??? I'm assuming that's japanese spec, if so what are us spec engines refered to as?

Welcome to the board....By the look of your plate ( tag) I would assume that you are on the other side of the pond...If this is the case the CRX here was only availble from 1984-1991....1992 and up was known here as the Del Sol ( this is your CRX with the verticle door handles).

U.S. spec motors are referred to as USDM, europe should be EDM. Then japanese spec is (like you said) JDM.

I can't remember any links right now (sorry), but someone will post another link for you showing which engines are what.

 

His location says Florida...and I believe the 84-87 rex's had vertical door handles as well.
