How effective is the Type R ECU in a 00 SI?
Im about ready to purchase a ECU from Kenji and I will have my stock ECU to sell. My friend has a 00 SI with I/h/e setup and I was thinking about selling it to him? Will he feel any power. I know his redline will be higher but do you think he will gain any HP? What is a reasonable price to sell the stock type R ECU for? Thanks!
i like it in my car, got it for $100. if its a 00-01 ecu, the immobilizer will have to be removed and you have to move the A15 wire to A16 on one of the ecu plugs. check engine light will be on. if its a 97-98, he can just get a harness for it

The check engine light is on? I have a 98 type R. I dont think he is gonna want it if the check engine light is on. That defeats the purpose. Is there a way to get it off? Also, how big of a difference did you feel and what mods do you have? How much would a harness cost him as well? Thanks!
i think with the harness there wont be any check engine lights. harnesses run about $250. it feels stronger than a stock ecu +vafc and the car has ctr cams and the jap-r header

Pat, who thinks Brian's SiBus is one of the strongest NA Si's he's been around
mine throws a CEL, i forgot the code. its got 2 meanings, running too rich or runnin too lean. my guess is too rich. the only thing i honestly like it for is for the added revs incase u do shift later than stock rev limiter. other than that i didnt feel ****. but i got it for a killer price.
