Default rywire good or bad?

okay. so im gonna be building a LS Vtec in my eg coupe. and NEED NEW WIRING HARNESS, but would also like to do a full wire tuck. was thinking about getting a REPLACEMENT Rywire harness, but at the same time idk if its worth getting a 500 dollar wire harness to hack apart to wire tuck? any input?

also how hard/ pain in the *** would it be to make a complete custom harness? basicly running my own wires, with the connectors and etc. input would be awsome.

please dont ask about the lsvtec, this thread is about the harness, and wire tuck. if you really wana know what the lsvtec is gonna be search, i have a thread or two explaining what is gonna go in it.

If you know how to read a wiring diagram (or at least copy a wiring harness), and are good with electrical work, making your own shouldn't be very difficult, just very time consuming. My biggest concern would be sourcing the proper connectors, and the correct tools to crimp and install the pins. If you have an existing harness with good connectors, perhaps you could depin them and reuse them.

I thought of doing my own harness, but then I thought of all the work I would have into it, just to have messed something up in the harness. To have a simple mistake ruin a motor, or have to get a new harness anyway, would **** me off. I just went with Rywire. I was green as could be with wiring and this made it easy. If you are having anything custom done to your harness, be very specific about what you want done. I had a resistor box integrated into the harness. I had to finish some simple wiring, and had no idea how to that. I spoke with Ryan to get some help, he wasn't very good in the custy support department, but that isn't what we are paying for now is it. I love my herness!

rywire is awesome. it pretty much comes tucked when he makes it. i have a few sticking out but most of that is from other things in the bay. it still looks very clean.

and no it doesn't its just for the engine to ecu. unless you asked otherwise.

the best way to learn is to do it yourself, you'll make a few mistakes in the process but that comes with the game. Then you can help others when they are working through it. Thats just my philosophy.

thats pretty much how i was going to run the wriing. but i didnt know you had to have a little like fuse thing right by the battery, i was gonna just run the power straight back, not to a fuse then out of the fuse to the front. im also probly gonna end up doing a moderate to full wire tuck. so hopefully this will all turn out nice.

running wires is not my issue, more of where to put battery, and what exactly i need to do it safely/correctly.

rywire is very reputable and you can choose to have the harness done for a tuck check it out, they have all types of different options http://www.rywire.com/store/index.php

Its not that hard to do. I wouldn't spend $500 on a wire that Im going to hack into later on in order to do a wire tuck. Instead take the time to learn what sensors you really need and it will be a life lesson you will never forget.

*They took off the picture on the rywire site that helped you identify the sensors you need to know off the Gsr. Geez I wonder why they took it down? EASY because people will start modifying their own engine harnesses instead of ordering a $500 one from them.

http://rywire.com/store/faqdesk_info...6e410182f6c602

*Sensors you need to know: IAT, IACV, Knocksensor, Vtec pressure, Vtec solenoid, Alternator, Starter, starter ground, Thermostat ground, fan switch, TW switch, Oil pressure switch, TPS, MAP, Injectors, Distributors, and a couple more I cant recall..

RESEARCH! and you will save money and learn!

Heres mine after I hacked into it trying to figure it out. It was easier than you think.

Remember to solder everything and shrink wrap if you can!
