Should i buy a hatch?
Ive been looking at buying a 1993 Honda civic cx.
What i need to know is if the car is in good condition with 167000 miles
should i go ahead and buy it?
The guy wants 2000$ for it.

That's a lot of money for a 17 year old, economy model hatch with 167k miles. I'd say look for a hatch with a blown motor (the cx motor gets great mileage but has no guts) if you can get it for under $1500 and do a motor swap. Granted that $2k is pretty standard for an eg hatch, if you hold off there are better deals out there. I picked up my 96 ex coupe, 120k miles, 5 speed, clean title, bought it from the original owner, never been in an accident for $1200.
Long story short hatches are cool but I would get a few cars you like and hunt for a deal. Every couple of bucks you can save buying the car is a bigger budget you can put towards making the car you have the way you want it.

Depending on condition of the body BUY THAT. For performance the CX is useless but perfect for a swap being so light. If the quarters arent rusted, along with condition otherwise it would be something to look into. Front end damage is no big deal if its just a dented fender/hood or cracked bumper. Parts are easlily had. Prices of EG hatches are getting crazy it seems like $2000 isnt too bad of a deal after some negotiation, could be had for $1500 possibly. For reference I bought my '92 DX hatch bone stock with 106k miles on it for $1600 cash with perfect quarters zero rust. Used car dealer wanted $2200 for it. Pics/more info would help greatly with HT's opinions on the possible purchase.

i'm going to say buy it.
miles are not that high, as the last CX i had had 280k on it and ran great.
body condition - as long as it is decently clean and rust free, it's good.
good deal if it's a decent car. get it.

Do you have any pics of it? if the body and interior are in good condition then get it. The easiest mod you can do for it is a D15B7 head. Or a D16Y8 head if you want VTEC. The only reason that motor makes such **** power is because of its 8 valve design. Switch a 16 Valve head on there and it will make the same power as the B7 (with a B7 head), put a Y8 head on there and it will make about 130HP.
Like it was said before, if the body is in good condition or at least in decent (workable) condition you should get it. My '96 EK had the same amount of miles on it like about 6 months ago, and it runs pretty damn good. BUUT it is slow, you probably will be better of buying a shell and then getting a better motor in there.
