accord keeps getting hot
I need some help as to why my 93 Accord temperature always gets hot while sitting in traffic? the radiator is in good shape and no possible leaks anywhere? Any advise please!! Also, when I start my car, sometimes the ac unit does turn on. Anybody knows why. In order to turn it on, I must turn the car off and start it back up to register the ac. Again, any assistance would be grateful.
My 5th gen runs got in traffic too, but thats because
1.) my radiator is jacked up
2.) my cooling system is jacked up
3.) I got into an accident
4.) the hose going from the radiator to the engine *I think*
is pinched

your cat could be clogged. your radiator might need to be flushed. coulb be a lot of things. flush your radiator first. does the catalytic converter have more than 75,000 miles on it?
the temp goes almost to the top yet no smoke in the engine bay.
what I said about the ac is that sometimes when I turn the ignition, the ac unit isn't working. In order to power it up, I have to turn the car off and start it back up. I'm wondering if a relay could be faulty, I don't know.

possible crack in the radiator. can u smell collant burning, it smells kinda like rotten ****. if so then u prob have a minor radiator leak.
just a possibility

Also, check your thermostat.Does it go down if you rev the engine? It may just be the pressure of the water pushing it open a speed but at idle there is not enough pressure to hold it open. This was discussed in another thread recently.
I'd lean towards thermostat. After a long time those things will crack and allow about - this much water through... if any at all.
Now we're not talking about the electric thermostat, we're talking the mechanical on the back of the block right by the throttle body. all you need is some coolant, a flat head screw driver and a 10mm socket to change it.\
Assuming you dont live way up north (sorry didnt see your location) you might wanna take this opportunity to step down to a 180 degree thermostat.

I'm pretty sure it's your temperature sensor. I had the same problem before and luckily I was able to pinpoint the problem right away. Try checking that sensor, it's probably not operating anymore.

Hey I had the same problem, it turned out to be a headgasket. Check to see if your water level in your radiator is disappearing, or maybe your water pump. However, mine was a headgasket.
If you don't get hot while moving and you do while you're still, water isn't circulating, whether it's from it being in your oil, low, the thermostat being stuck or whatever. I've seen defective fans cause that, lack of coolant, and a few other things. I hope that helps.
where you start first? the fan does work and I always check the coolant level before a trip. So I'm wondering about water in the oil? Is that what you meant? If so, what does that mean? How can I fix that problem?
Pull your dipstick out and see if it's a milky grey or it's natural color. If it doesn't look like oil there's a chance you have a blown head gasket or cracked head. Along with that usually come some missing in your engine. If neither is the case, I'd carry it to a radiator shop and have it checked out or go it to a shop to have it looked at by someone else who is a mechanic.
STOP. Before you do anything, answer dis question.

If "no" then replace the TW sensor on the bottom of your radiator.

If "yes" then read all the posts above....

TW sensor is not on the bottom of the radiator...it's either on the thermostat housing or below the distributor. Dont have my book on me so i cant check.
bah! Last one I replaced was on my LXi, that was at the bottom of the radiator.......you get the point.
