11K? My buddy says he is going to buy this but I think 11K is way to much. What ya'll think?

 

Too f***ing much. If he pays $7,000 still alittle high but we can deal with it. I say $6,000 in the codition it's in (great).

 

its clean but for 11k? no thx. i saw one just like that being sold by the og owner and he wanted 8k for it. clean title 75k.

 

thats like half the cost of a new SI.

 

I got mime for $6500. 2000 EBP with 43xxx miles clean.

 

I found a PY ITR, clean title, near mint condition for 11.5k
definitely not worth it.

Worth is in the eye of the buyer. If he has his heart set on it, then just let him do it. But if he was smart, he could get an EX, drop a B18c1 in it, have some fun with modifications, and probably have extra money left over.

 

It depends on the availability of similar EM1s in the area.

If they usually go for $10 in comparable condition there, then it's a rip off. If they usually go for $13,000 in comparable condition there, then it's a great deal.

From the tracking list I keep, this is a high price in general throughout the US. In my experience most EM1s have some sort of mods done to them at this point, but a lot of those cars can also have their mods easily removed.

Good point. It is definitely higher than 95% (give or take a few percent) of the ones I see for sale in similar condition.

Before the economy took a dump I know people were paying around this much for a really clean Si (have a friend who payed almost 12 for his and it had some nice mods done), but not anymore. It looks like its being sold by a dealer, and they ALWAYS mark up the price to a ridiculous level to make a profit. Negotiate it down if he can, but if not, pass on it.

Another good reason to pass. I'm still seeing most ITR's in good shape go for more than 11k, but if you gonna spend this kind of money, might as well go for the ITR. It's a better car, and will definitely hold its value over the Si.

Okay, so there is this gorgeous car local that I've been drooling over the last few months. Totally stock, about a 1990 or so. Base model out of the two trims available.

There is one other example of this model I've found in the area. It's the higher trim level, but is totally beat to ****.

I know the owners don't have either for sale. Neither owner seems to care much about what type of car it is from what I see, though the nice base model owner takes excellent care of it and appears to daily drive it.

I'd like to purchase one of these cars, not the local high trim though. So I searched online thinking I'd be willing to drive to neighboring states for what I want.

I think I found five more in the country for sale. One was $7000, but the others were all under $1500, even one very clean high trim one in California.

So now my decision is which of these to try. I can try to buy the local low trim one, but I'd prefer the upper trim one. Plus the local one isn't really for sale and I'm afraid the owner will ask for more than I'd like to pay or flat out refuse.

Needless to say I'm kind of torn.

That local one is worth quite a bit to anyone who really wants it though. The seller could probably sell it for at least $4000 easily even though it appears the average price throughout the country is about $1250 or so.

Another example is a friend of mine who recently sold his '91 Integra LS. Very, very lightly modified, something like 130k IIRC. He sold it for $5000 to a guy who had seen the car for sale back when my friend bought it. Guy was thrilled, but then the car got stolen week later.

I told my friend he'd regret selling that car, and I think he has. Now he's looking at a bone stock '92 Integra LS auto with 78k for $4900.

Both these guys love DA Integas, so a car that some might price at $2000, they're willing to pay a lot more.

I don't particularly like EM1s, so I'm probably not the right person to say for that one based on opinion, but I can tell you the prices I see them go for based off of my VIN list. (Also, thanks for the link to this car that wasn't yet on my list.)

It depends on how common the car is in comparable condition in that area, the availability of the cars and how much the buyer really wants it.

 

i picked up one 5 days ago with 66k for $6000, 95% stock with clean title and flawless other then the rear bumper cover

 

Si = B16 in a glorified EX. Yay.

Way too much money. I don't see the appeal of the Si unless you want a stock car with a B series already in it.

Buy a clean EX for $4000, but a legit B18C5 swap from HMotorsOnline and call it a day.

With $11K, he could buy a car with a lot more "umph" to it.

 

11k is too much. clean si's go for 3.5-4.5 here.

Then you need to pick some up and sell them around the country because that's super cheap for a great condition Si.
