Default Noob with a Query

Hey Honda dudes, so far Im reading the forum topics, and Im learning more than I need to. I got some questions for all of you. First off, the car Im hoping to buy in '03 is a '92-'95 Civic 2-door coupe (im sure thats the Si, <-- again, Im a noob) and I know for a fact that Im going to work on it. I already own a piece of crap '92 Sunbird, and right now its in numerous pieces on my garage floor. Im using it as a learner car, just doing stuff to the car and seeing what will happen. When I buy my Civic, Im hoping to work on the motor first, get some 13.0 times, and when the time comes, I want to strap on a Turbo. Im thinking Im going to go GReddy or HKS, but thats at least 6 months to a year away. Before I do all that, I want to know what a good way to turn a key every morning, and be able to pull 13 second times every night. This info would be awesome. Thx.

Hmmm...

First things first: Yes, the car you mentioned is the Si in Canada (eh?) and the EX here in the states.

13's... Gosh, don't know if you can do that with just I/H/E (Intake, header, exhaust). Maybe low 14's, then strap on the Turbo!

If you're gonna go turbo don't get a header it will be a waste of money.

13s is a little too much to ask when you didn't mention a motor swap. i advise you to also take a look into drag, fmax, or even making your own home-made turbo, and not limit yourself to just greddy or hks.

the 92-95 civic that you refer to is either the dx or ex. those are the only coupes here in the states. the si is the hatchback model.

Thanks for the input. this morning I got offered a Civic Si (up here its the 2-door coupe, eh, yeah, im Canadian, but we love cars too) for 4000 Canadian funds. Its pretty beaten up, but I love working on cars. I contacted my buddy down at the autoshop I work at, and he said that he could hand me a B18 from an Integra he took apart. It's fairly new, and it's got new cam gears and it's been powder-coated. I went down there and pickd it up, and Im getting the car in two weeks. until that day, Im going to be going all out on my engine, and I havent a clue where to start. Help me!!!!!!!!!

...and I havent a clue where to start.
That's one reason you shouldn't be working on an engine. That's not a put down either. If you have no idea where to start on rebuilding and engine, go read a few books and find out what areas really matter when you're handed that engine. Miss a critical service area and you could be paying for it down the road.

Expect a lot of down time and confusion if you plan on attacking it right off the bat.

Dude I've been reading on the internet since late 98 and I still am leaning about cars. The informaiton is neverending. I devor atleast 1 or 2 books every other week about cars always leaning more and putting more and more togeather. I found sho in 99 and HT this year. I would suggest picking up the parts if you can but before you touch them, find out what they do how they do it and what that preticular part will take before it breaks/blows up. Use the search button here, its a life saver! Good luck!
