Default mis shifted from 3rd to 2nd. have no compression in cyl #1

hey guys my cars been sitting for awhile now, due to me mis shifting at redline back into 2nd from 3rd.It was in 2nd for less then a second because i immediatly pushed in the clutch when this happend i was driving down the road after this happend and my battery and oil light started flashing so i shut the car off instantly.the ecu was throwing a cylinder #1 mis-fire and engine over rev code. i pulled all of the plugs, used an optic scope in each cylinder, no visible damage to the top of the pistons. timings dead on,all of the plugs are in good condition, the only thing that was odd was that cylinder 1 was black, im guessing from un burnt gasses due to it not fireing.

I believe i bent a valve or valves or broke a retainer in cylinder 1. my question is what would be my cheapest/best option on getting my car fixed.

dude told me he'd charge me 800 to fix the bent valves etc and 900 to replace all of the valves. this sounds kinda too steep? if i were to order a head from advanced, autozone etc would it be a full head for 500?

you can easily find a3 with around 70 to 80k miles for around $500...,
imo, do what Type-'S'paz says and do a k24 swap, for what "dude" is going to charge you, you can get a K24 swap for sure!!!

when you downshift there is no rev limiter so you probbaly spiked it and dropped a valve the whole motor could be trashed. unless its under warrenty your better off busting the head off to see what you need before you go buying another head.

My friend got a 2003 rsx-s and managed to hit 10k rpm and his motor was completely fine. I think he did a 3rd to 2nd shift too... Sorry I didn't help, but thought I'd share a fun story, lol. Good luck.

you floated a valve. take off the head, take it to someone who knows how to replace the valve. No need to spend $800 for that... for that matter no point in buying another head at $400. If you pull the head and take it somewhere they should be able to do it for less. If you have a friend who knows what they are doing then go that route.
