Matte Black with Metallic Flake?
Has anyone here ever seen a matte black done with metallic flake in it?
My car will be getting all the body work done with the help of a professional bodyman, and block sanded, primered, base/clear in a paint booth.
Its impossible to find a color... We were thinking of doing a matte black with a metallic flake in it, maybe red... Has anyone ever seen this done? How do you thinbk it would turn out?
This is for an EK Hatch.

Yes i have actually, you can use any base color you want thats your choice, but you have to use an "ultra flat clear", diamonte from BASF refinish makes such a clear coat, we actually used it on my brothers motorcycle, but it is VERY VERY touchy about how it is sprayed and what kind of environment it drys in. The slightest deviation from the tech specs can cause it to come up in a semi gloss.
every company makes a matte/flat clear. i never seen a black metallic in a matte.. but i have seen a blue metallic in a matte.. it was alright. IMO.... although i wouldnt do it.. u can try it out... for the most part your car wont be shiny like a metallic car thats glossy... but its there. and u can see it
