New to the world of Honda: 1993 Del Sol S
As the title says, this is my first Honda. I come from a family of muscle car fanatics.. my brother owns a 2001 WS6 Trans Am, my father has a 2009 Camaro SS, an I have owned a 1997 Z28 and a 1994 Mustang GT. The reason I purchased the Honda was I was needing a DD that got better gas millage and would be reliable. I was originally looking for a civic or prelude but I happened to stumble across this wonder and the price was right.
Its a 1993 Honda Del Sol S. It has about 156k miles on it. It is a rebuilt title..but besides the slightly crooked front bumper there are no other signs of it being a rebuilt title. i did get it up to 100mph to check for the notorious vibrations rebuilt titles have and there where none..I have noticed it does have moderate vibrations when the top is removed. Ive also done hard brake checks and lock to lock steering and it seems to be in good condition. All in all believe it to be in good condition for a 17 year old car. Everything works except for the windshield washer, which I am in the process of removing, and the passenger door lock.. which i have a new assembly ordered and should be arriving here soon
I haven't really done any modifying to it yet. Ive done a tune up (plugs, wires, engine and trans oils, radiator flush, new tires, wipers, fuel and air filter) and I also put a Sony CD player in it along with Clarion 3way speakers which are hooked up to a small JL Audio amp. I have a few future plans for it, remove the pin striping, window tint, 16" wheels, new suspension (including all new bushings) Short throw shifter, full header back exhaust( just looking for good sound), and a Short Air Intake.
I know the D15 series motors don't do too well with bolt ons so maybe one day down the road I shall do a engine trans swap..but that's another day another thread. Any suggestions/comments are welcome and i am located in central Alabama so if anyone knows of any Honda meets in the area please let me know

Nice find bro
It's nice to see another Sol owner cruising around. I like Captiva Blue Pearl
Just needs a nice set of wheels and a mild drop.
Check out the del Sol Owner's Club Thread v 2.0!
And don't worry, thats common with most del Sols. When the top is off the chassis loses some of it's strength.

nice clean sol.
that side light looks a little off in the first few shots. but im guessing thats the part of the rebuild?
if your thinking about swapping out the motor don't bother getting an expensive header at least til after. with that get a B series anything. easy swaps and make them much more fun.

ya ive been doing alot of thinking..if i do anything to the exhaust now it will more than likely be just a new muffler... i just want a good sound...im not real concerned with performance right now.. id like to build the car to handle the power first. tho i will miss the outstanding MPG's. and ive been seeing alot of people doing b series swaps...i still have much to learn about the motors and trans for these cars.. coming from running higher cubic inch motors to these will take some getting used to... ive always followed the motto "there is no replacement for displacement"

i had never even really looked at a del sol before i bought this one.. i ran across it looking at a 96 prelude Si actually.. i asked what he wanted and about sh*t my pants when he told me the price
well it was pretty much a stock lude.. 180k miles.. he wanted 5k for it.. i offered him 4.2k cash and he said no..well as i was leaving i saw the sol parked off to the side and inquired about it..we ended up making a deal for $1200 for my sol..so im pretty content with it so far
wow thats rediculous...but ludes are tons of fun. you'll still get decent. i get 33ish. but mines pretty much stock but im a spirited driver. theres a few fully built ones that get the same.
instead of cubic inches get used to higher/lower compression N/A or boost setup depending and tunes.
thats a steal with that few miles. i got mine for 1700 with 190k and a lil bit of rust.

i have about 10k for a build.. I bought this with money from selling my stang..guy who built the motor for me made a stupid offer and i took it lol but im not gonna just jump in to a build.. i want to look at all my options first...lately ive been researching h22 motors.. i like the idea of higher displacement. my goal is to achieve 320hp down the road..but for now i just wanna clean it up and make it pretty like
from what ive learned there complicated to install because of clearance issues.. which if i where to go with a h22 id want a/c as well..and i don't know how all of that would work.. also i don't know alot about turbo systems.. i know a decant amount about SC. I like on demand power.. i don't like the idea of something have to spool up..when i push the gas i wanna go vroom
depending on which swap u do (h2d h2b or full h22 swap) clearance isnt that bad. swap really isnt that complicated but can b a pita. u can keep the a/c. the h22 responds pretty good. imho the H23A responds better and cost about the same

correct me if im wrong..but isnt vtec designed to be ran at high RPMs... and im looking for a low comp. motor (8.5:1 or 9:1) so i would want to stay away from vtec
yes tech is designed for higher rpms but u dont have to run it. h the other version of the h23 is a 9.8:1 and there is the f22b which is a 9.3:1 both are rated around 165 hp stock. the f22b has better bottom end for boosting tho
well i am wanting to supercharge...maybe i am wrong by wanting this.. i dont know the easiest way to make power out of these motors. i just know the more boost you want to run the lower comp you want to have
