EGR Valve 99SH
I tried everything mentioned on this forum to get the EGR valve to work, but it seems to be dead and I must change it.
My understanding is that 4th gen and 5th gen have the same part number,, please correct me if I'm wrong, and for some reason the 4th is a little cheaper than the 5th.
MY QUESTION IS, would i be losing any sleep if I buy an EGR off of ebay for 4th gen? its $100 cheaper than the dealer..
and does it make a difference if the car is auto or manual? some listing have in bold that the EGR they are selling is strictly for auto. Does that make sense?
I would appreciate your opinions.
Thank you

They're all the same, the only thing is with buying a used one is that you may be saving money now but perhaps not in the long run when it just craps out like your old one.

What makes you think the valve itself is not working? For most people it's clogged egr metering ports in the intake manifold that cause the cel. Find a used if it's not working, there are plenty out there since it's the same part between 4gen and 5gen.
Why don't you just block off the valve? Any shop should be able to make you a little metal plate to block it off... you could even make it out of an aluminum can if you wanted to... but id have a shop cut one for you it takes 5 minutes and your intake system will stay cleaner and run a bit better.
unless you have to worry about emissions test...
