rust issue killing my project

Default rust issue killing my project

finally started stripping my hatch and found a nightmare friggn corners of the floorpan are rusted right through... I need some opinions on how to fix this issue seeing that scraping it is not an option...

If you want to get it done right your gonna have to cut and weld some pieces in there.

Yep, that's the only correct way. Cut out all of the rust and weld in new sheetmetal.


If you just want to plug it up though, you can ghettofab it with sheet metal, JB Weld, pop rivets, RTV, and seal it up with POR-15. That's how people rock over in the Jeep world. It works astonishingly well, but it's by far not the right way to do it.

As part of my adventure in Jeep ownership, I've found out that apparently Cherokee ever built has rust holes through the floorpans, and most of the guys it like that with decent results.

I figured as much. I guess I would have to cut all of the cancer just laying a piece on top would be kind of butch... what type of metal would I use
