Default Fog lights-Clear or Smoked

Im thinking of putting a set of fog lights on my civic but I cant decide if I should stick with clear or smoked lens. Does anyone know if the light output will be greatly reduced with the smoked lens? Eventually I will put a set of HIDs in them.

I would go with the clear and put some 2500k HID's in them personally. (its what i have on my Si Sedan)

I wonder what they were thinking when they made smoked lenses. Kinda defeats the purpose of adding more light to the road to see better.

A lot of people use foglights as a cosmetic thing rather then more light.
