2003 crv a/c fan wont turn on??
I'm thinking this is a pretty common problem and I'm trying to help my friend on it as he's got a 1 yr old and this is the primary mode of transport for and its summer...he needs to keep the baby cool obviously.
anyway, he had walmart change his oil and thats when it literally stopped. dropped it off at wallie world and working great. comes out and cranks the car when its done and no a/c fan.
I'm pretty sure its just coincendent.
brought car over to me and we got to work on it. hooked the blower fan straight to battery and it worked just fine. checked all fuses and swapped relays around and still nothing. When you first put the key in and turn on the fan **** you can "barely hear it" try to start up and then nothing.
he looked online yesterday and found this:

can anyone confirm whether this is a likely culprit to the problem? if so, anyone have a pic of this thing or know what the proper name for it is so we can see if anyone has any good ones for sale cheaper than the $100+ the dealer wants??

Looks like Honda refers to it as a "Power Transistor". You can find it on this page as part #8, and it looks like it is only about $40+shipping.
Link to Part Diagram, Look for #8 on the Bottom/Middle

yep, power transistor was bad.
he found a test procedure online and it failed that.
grabbed a replacement from the only parts store in town that had one for $46 and his a/c is working again. sucked changing that out in the rain...
