Default B16 EF guys.. What air intake?

Hey.. I'm just wondering what kind of intake tube you guys are using if you keep your battery in the stock location. I have a CAI from a 95 Si that was given to me for free, but the only way it will fit is to move the battery it looks like. I don't want to have to do that.. Lazy man hate work.

Anyone know what I can do and keep my battery where it is?

Thanks.

I run an iceman CAI for the 88-91 civic/crx Si. It fits fine and I didn't have to move the battery.

I ran a short ram intake. You could relocate the battery or get one of those Optima batteries and it would fit.

Whats an Optima battery?

The thing that I wondered about running the 88-91 Civic intake was is it going to hinder pefromance a bit because the intake piping is smaller for the D16 than the B16?

An "optima" battery is the brand name. It is just a battery. I'm not sure if it's smaller...? The 88-91 piping is a little smaller than than the B16 one, so, that usually means more low end torque, but less breathing at high RPM.

You need an AEM cold air, for the year of your car. My car is a 1990 and that is what I use.

Don't be lazy!

The AEM CAI for the 99-00 Civic Si is well worth it.

Don't use a D series intake on it, you're only hurting optimal performance......

intakes don't really matter. . .it's just piping. . .that's just my opinion, but to keep your battery, just use the one needed for your chasis. . .

I meant the Optima gel based battery, it is smaller. StorminMatt runs it on his B16a he also runs an 99-00 si intake. Just an option if you don't want to relocate your battery, and want the appropriate size intake for your B16a.

I run a 99 si iceman, but i found out that they actuall make a hybrid swap intake. However I'm not sure if with that one they require the relocation of the battery. You can find a pic of mine here in this post. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=274373

Does the Iceman for the 99 Si have a larger diameter pipe? Is that why you chose that one instead of the one made for the CRX?

Actually, you want to use an Odyssey battery. Not an Optima. The Optima is actually larger than the stock Group 51. Speaking of intakes, another choice is the Injen. Even the Injen intake for the D16A6 is a 3 inch piece. So it should be better than the puny 2.5 inch AEM CAI designed around the flow capacity of the D16A6. But I don;t know how it compares with the AEM CAI for the 1999-2000 SI (which is specifically tuned for the B16A).

INJEN CAI intake for 88-91 CRX Si/EX. Fits like a glove.

I was lucky enough to find a JDM intake tube from an EF SiR. I use that with my stock airbox with a K&N drop-in. I like it alot.

I use the 99-00 si intake with a Stinger Red top battery. I think it appears in the pic post.

Hmm. I always though that the AEM intake was supposed to be a smaller diameter than other brands; something about air velocity, can't quite remember what. Apparently the bigger tubing slows down flow or some crap like that. Is the 99-00 much bigger than the CRX one?
