under dash 12V AC?
okay guys. I know that this is the fabrication forum, but I'm guessing this would require a good bit of fabrication so i didn't know where else to put it. i live in a very humid southern climate, with a non a/c compatible turbo car, as many people are today, or have super clean wire tucks, or for whatever reason just do not run the traditional a/c. the idea i have, is an under dash, 12V powered AC unit. it would need a 12V motor to power a small compressor, of course a condenser, evap, etc, and a blower motor, which could replace the factory. I'm thinking that this could fit against the heater core box, in order to use the factory vents and plumbing. the unit I'm talking about would take place of the blower motor box, and the a/c box that are behind the glove box. in order to still utilize heat, it would need to be able to shut off the compressor, so a clutch or electric switch would have to be used as well. it would be great if it could keep the factory climate control, or the all electronic JDM unit, though putting a control unit in the glove box and keeping the stock control for aesthetics i think would be acceptable to many of us. now, has anyone heard of this being done, know someone that has done this, or know a company that can do something like this? any help is greatly appreciated, and any comments and criticism is always welcome as well.
great idea.. one question??? where would the a/c condenser and the fan go, if you had that stuff under there? you would have heat.. but nothing to blow it? and you would have refrigerant.. but no way to blow the air across the condenser?
great idea tho. an a/c system is not complicated, just bulky.. dont think it will fit..
buuuutt, you could run an electric motor and a/c compressor, under the back of the car and run the lines to the stock condenser, under the dash.. that would tuck the a/c.. not sure on a shop to do it.. but that would be cool i think.. and do-able.

would def. have to run a high output alt. and two batteries for the current draw from an electric motor, big enough to turn an a/c compressor to be efficient enough to blow cold air.
