Does anyone know a of a good write up for a d15z1 to d16z6 swap?
I think my vx's engine is crapping out and I want to start a swap.

Thanks for the help.

It is because the vx came with 4 plugs and regular harnesses came with 3. Mine had the same problem. Switch the engine harness to the vx and it will start...orr will if the motor is fine.

The good thing about the VX harness is that it came wired for VTEC. The only thing that makes it as pain is wiriing the 5 wire o2 to a 4 wire. Not that hard to do...but hard to make it look stock (becuase of the one, i believe black wire not in the plug)

Hello, Don't know if anyone is still hanging around this thread, but I'm really hoping so...I just swapped a d16z6 into my VX, kept all my VX harnesses and wiring, everything is still stock VX except for the complete motor itself, and the intake manifold. Also running a p28 ECU. Car will not fire...turns over but wont start...I've heard things about rewiring the O2...I havent done this yet, will this keep it from running? I'm not hearing my fuel pump kick on, and I have no spark...however I have fuel coming through my injectors and 12 volts to my distributor. Any help please?

there is an archived thread on this to change the pins on the shock tower. VX also has a block box on the firewall- a plug goes there & your P07 ecu is looking for that. Does the EX or z6 have an egr? been a while since i had one in my vx. I did the opposite and went from d15b vtec(ex essentially) back to stock vx. Another way is to just get a Z6/EX wire harness-no splicing.
Do you wanna sell any of the VX stuff? like ecu, IM, TB & injectors...?

Make sure the Small Wire is connected to the starter, Also make sure the engine ground is connected, It will be on the rear water pipe next to the thermastat. I have had these issues stopping my fresh engine swaps before.

the O2 will not make the can not start. Only two things make the car fire....fuel and ignition. I would check the sensors vis a 9 volt battery and a multimeter then you will see what sensors (prolly dizzy) arent working. Ground each spark plug to verify spark. But really...do we need another no start thread....

GO TO THE FAQS.

I PM'ed you the 4 wire o2 wires.
